The Waikato Rugby Union together with St Peter's School are offering an exciting opportunity for overseas students to develop rugby skills and knowledge while being educated at one of New Zealand's leading schools with the market leading Overseas Rugby Players Programme.
Waikato International Rugby Programme  

This programme runs for a full NZ academic year - February through to December. The programme is an all in compassing suite of options for the development of rugby players of all levels in a professional environment with the focus on educational and character development skills.

Waikato Rugby Union

The Waikato Rugby Union (WRU) is the official governing body of rugby in the region of Waikato situated in the North Island of New Zealand.

The senior representative team compete in New Zealand’s leading provincial competition, the National Provincial Championship (NPC) — ITM Cup. Waikato is one of New Zealand’s most successful rugby provinces. Since the change of format to the NPC in 1992 Waikato has the following record:

  • Winners: 1992, 2006
  • Runners Up: 1998, 2002, 2010
  • Semi Finalists: 1993, 1997, 2003, 2004

Waikato is one of New Zealand's leading provinces for player and coach development.

Waikato has also produced a high representation of All Blacks, 61 in total. Current Waikato All Blacks include: Mils Muliaina, Sitivini Sivivatu, Liam Messam and Richard Kahui. Recent All Blacks include Stephen Donald, Brendon Leonard, Aled De Malmanche and Marty Holah.

Waikato has 4 players in the World Championship Seven’s Team – Declan O Donnell, Frank Halai, Tim Mikkleson and Rory Grice.
